Bathabile Dlamini has denied rumours that claimed the former cabinet minister was drunk while in office.
Dlamini told Eyewitness News that she was so affected by allegations against her that she decided to see a neurologist to check whether something was wrong with her.
“As much as I was fighting saying that I don’t drink and everyone was accusing me of drinking, I politicised the issue because we were dealing with the issues of alcohol and drug abuse, but I also had to look into myself and do self-introspection.”
Dlamini said she decided to seek help as the allegations started spreading fast.
“I was worried … this thing was spreading like wildfire,” she said.
She said the allegations of her having a drinking problem really affected her family. Dlamini has denied claims of her excessive drinking and said that she suffers from epilepsy. She claimed that she never touched alcohol.
