The Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow Minister of Social Development, Bridget Masango MP, has laid criminal charges against former Minister Bathabile Dlamini following her failure to report her knowledge that wives of ANC members were allegedly involved in dubious relationships with Cash Paymaster Services (CPS).
The DA had given Dlamini 48 hours to report to the police the alleged corruption she claimed to be aware of in her resignation letter.
DA spokesperson on social development Bridget Masango had said that Dlamini is legally compelled to report the alleged offence to the police in terms of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act. As it would be illegal not to do so.
"Dlamini has for far too long gotten away with evading accountability and the DA will ensure that she along with her ANC cronies get their day in court."
This comes after Dlamini’s scathing resignation letter as she quit as a member of the National Assembly on Monday. The former social development minister has accused some of her fellow ANC leaders of politically vilifying her and using her as a scapegoat on the controversies that surrounded her in recent years.
