The Legal Practice Council is investigating Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane following a complaint.

IOL reports that Accountability Now lodged a formal complaint with the body against the embattled Mkhwebane, who has people calling for her resignation from all sides.

"The complaint was sent to the relevant provincial office for processing, like all other complaints received by the council," said LPC chairperson Hlaleleni Dlephu.

“While the complaint is being processed, the LPC is prohibited by the Legal Practice Act from discussing the matter."

There is the possibility of Mkhwebane being stuck off the Advocates roll.

"The Legal Practice Council and its Provincial Councils regulate the affairs of and exercise jurisdiction over all legal practitioners (attorneys and advocates) and candidate legal practitioner," reads their website.
