Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp was spotted in Johannesburg earlier in the week for Bidvest Wits' game against Baroka amid speculation he is scouting Thabang Monare.
Monare is said to be a major target for the Glamour Boys as they look to strengthen in the middle of the park.
The German was in attendance for Wits' home game which somewhat surprisingly saw them lose 1-0 to Bakgaga.
Nonetheless, it seemed he was assessing Monare with a view to potentially signing the 29-year-old deeper-lying playmaker.
Middendorp was coy about his presence at the match saying he preferred watching live games when it comes to assessing players.
He said: "I'm one of those coaches - my normal way is to watch games live and not on tv, it doesn't matter if it is at Wits or if teams are playing Nelspruit, I like to watch live games.
"I think you can see more in terms of the entire movement of the team, and yeah, that's it. Let's take it from this side, it's part of my work ethic on a day-to-day basis.
"Actually, if I have a chance to watch games live or watch players live to see them now and whenever - next week, maybe in Nelspruit, I'll do it."
