Reports claim that Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula received a R50 000 payment from CR17 campaign despite supporting the opposition.

In the run-up to the elections, Mbalula publicly supported Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for ANC president. But Now, it appears Mbalula was the recipient of R50 000 from the now controversial CR17 political campaign, the financial details of which President Cyril Ramaphosa has tried to keep under wraps.

However, Mbalula was quick to defend himself, taking to twitter to adress his critics who now accuse him of being a spy in the Dlamini-Zuma camp.

"You guys are just gullible check when the deposit was made 01 jan 2019 , it had nothing to do with the CR17 campaign [sic]" tweeted Mbalula.
