Cosatu are the latest organisation to have admitted to receiving money from Cyril Ramaphosa's ANC leadership election campaign.

The Economic Freedom Fighters had two of their members, Tebogo Mokwele and Nkagisang Mokgosi, resign late on Monday after admitting to having been paid lump sums for the CR17 campaign.

And now Cosatu have owned up to receiving donations from the R1 billion fund used to drum up support for Ramaphosa ahead of the ANC's 2017 Nasrec conference.

“The money we received was never secret, we discussed it in our central executive committee when we said we can’t use workers money which we don’t have," Cosatu general secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali said.

"For this campaign, we must seek funding which we did. So, it was never a secret when it comes out, for us it was a non-issue,” he said.
