Police are investigating after a Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) nursing student was abducted outside a hospital and sexually assaulted.
According to reports, the incident occurred outside Tygerberg Hospital on Tuesday.
The Western Cape Health Department's Nomawethu Sbukwana said that the student was released after her attack.
The student is receiving treatment and counselling at Karl Bremer Hospital's Thuthuzela Care centre.
Sbukwana confirmed that police are currently investigating the matter.
"The minister condemns thee horrific attacks on students and she is working together with the SAPS around the circumstances of this attack," Sbukwana said.
No arrests have yet been made.
