It is no secret that President Cyril Ramaphosa is under attack from people outside the ANC and Ace Magashule has vowed to defend him.
The continued attacks on Ramaphosa's reputation include the probe by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane into his presidential campaign contributions.

IOL reports that the ANC secretary-general Magashule was speaking at an ANC Youth League meeting outside Pretoria this weekend, where he labelled such attacks as attempts to hurt the leading party.
"They will still go for Cyril Ramaphosa," he said.
"My role and your role is to defend the head of the ANC, because when they attack the head, the intention is to kill the movement."
The remarks are interesting, given that they seem to go against Magashule's implied loyalties. The former Free State premier was a Jacob Zuma supporter and is said to be a leading figure in the faction against Ramaphosa within the ANC.
Magashule added that while Zuma was a divisive figure, he had played a crucial role in rallying support for the ANC in the May general elections.
"He helped us, so we need every leader of the ANC," continued Magashule.
"The ANC is not an organisation of certain members and certain leaders. It is an organisation of the people of South Africa."
